January 28, 2016 is a day I will not soon forget. That was the day I was notified I was accepted to be a student at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. For as long as I can remember I wanted to attend UNC, and on that day my dream came true.
I have lived in Greensboro, NC all of my life. Growing up, I played on travel soccer and basketball teams, and developed a love for animals. I attended Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro where I was a member of the National Honor Society and National Latin Honor Society. I was elected as captain for three years of my varsity basketball team, and graduated as an AP Scholar with Distinction. My love for animals led me to start a pet sitting business while in high school, as well as volunteering at the Guilford County Animal Shelter.
I entered Carolina as Business major, but after my first semester I realized how much I enjoyed marketing and advertising. After changing my major to Advertising and Public Relations, I was accepted into the School of Media and Journalism in the Fall of 2017. I am excited about my major, and I enjoy learning new things like web site development and news reporting. After graduation, I hope to work for an advertising and public relations firm here in the United States or perhaps Europe.
When I am not studying and going to class, I enjoy being part of my sorority. I am also a member of Dream Makers, an outreach club on campus that provides support for local senior citizens. In addition, I play intramural basketball, and spend time volunteering at the Orange County Animal Shelter.
